When Odgers & McClelland Exchange Stores, which initially began trading in the early 1890′s, was re-opened by the Trousdale family after a 20 year hiatus, it sparked curiosity and interest amongst the locals in Nundle, New South Wales. People who were keen in the building and the history were happy to see the value of this rural pre-war general merchant being upheld in modern times.

Duncan and Megan Trousdale, first fell in love with Nundle back in 1997. Back then Megan was the Deputy Editor of Australian Country Style magazine, and Duncan accompanied her on a trip to gather stories on the town. They certainly liked what they saw, because a year later they made Nundle their home, and soon after purchased the historic Odgers and McClelland building. Using Megan’s intuitive style and Duncan’s experience in retail and fine arts, together they began making their own Nundle history.

In the last year, the Trousdales have brought the rustic, country charm of the Odgers & McClelland Exchange Stores to the rest of the world in the form of their online store – www.exchangestores.com.au. Here they have continued showcasing their niche for enamelware, stocking Romanian enamelware and the iconic Falcon enamelware, as well as English gardening tools and twine, traditional cookware, quirky utensils, fine tea and coffee and traditional toys.
